I recall some good times kicking my friends' asses as those goofballs. Even though there are a lot of characters with 54 to choose from, I still wish that more were included, especially some quirky ones like Dr. Speaking of which, there are loads of familiar characters to play as and on top of the ones that were in the vanilla version, Tekken 7 Definitive Edition also includes Eliza, Geese Howard from the SNK universe, Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV, Anna Williams, Lei Wulong, Craig Marduk, Armor King, Julia Chang, Negan from The Walking Dead, Zafina, Ganryu, Leroy Smith, Fahkumram, Kunimitsu, and Lidia Sobieska. These additional mechanics are a welcome change although the classic Tekken feel is very much in full effect and that is excellent. There are also Screw hits that let you launch enemies and smack them into the ground as well as Power Crush moves that can absorb some enemy attacks while leaving you vulnerable in other ways. However, there are a few mechanics that set it apart from the pack such as its Rage system where you can unleash a devastating character-specific Rage Art whenever it's available. For those unfamiliar with the base game, the core gameplay that Tekken is renowned for remains intact with characters that range from highly technical to newbie-friendly. The series has come a long way since then and Tekken 7 Definitive Edition is perhaps the most comprehensive experience that the fighter franchise has seen yet.
